Ansari stresses on imparting skills to youth to enhance employability

JAMMU, MARCH 29 (KNO) : Minister for Information Technology, Technical Education, Youth Services and Sports, Imran Raza Ansari in the presence of Speaker, Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta today laid the foundation stone of New Guest House building at Government Polytechnic College Jammu to be executed by the Public Works department at an estimated cost of Rs 82.35 lakh.

After laying the foundation, the Minister directed the concerned for completing the project within the stipulated time frame. Later, the Minister along with the Speaker, Legislative Assembly also inaugurated 2-Day TECHNOVATION-2018 festival organized by Government Polytechnic College, Jammu to showcase the innovations and scientific models created by the students. Speaking on the occasion, Ansari urged the students to opt for skill development programs along with formal education. He said it will surely help to grab good jobs and earn a better livelihood, besides providing employment opportunities to others.

The Minister while lauding the efforts of the students and faculty for organizing the festival said that besides imparting quality and value based education to the students, providing them platform to showcase talent, helps them to excel in academics and ensure their all-round development. While interacting with the innovators, the Minister said skill development plays a vital role in nurturing multi dimensional personality of youth besides, providing world class professional experience to make them global leaders.

He said that as educators, we all share the same mission nurturing young minds and bringing out the best in them, we need to cater to all students, so that students with different abilities and interests are able to use their potential to the full. Ansari assured the students that basic infrastructure and equipment’s will be made available to them on priority. Speaking on the occasion, Speaker, Kavinder Gupta urged the students to encourage others to take part in skill development courses.

He said the Centre's Skill India programme was aimed at creating opportunities, space and scope for the development of talented youths and upgrading sectors which have already been brought under the ambit of Skill Development Programmes, besides identifying new sectors for the same. Commissioner Secretary Technical Education, Hilal Ahmad Parray, Principal Government Polytechnic College Jammu, Arun Bangotra, Director Technical Education, Shabnum Kamili, Director C T Group of Colleges Punjab, Dr. G.D Kalra, Principals of various colleges, faculty and students were present of the occasion.(KNO)
